Loan Periods
Videos and DVDs have a one-week loan period. All other items may be taken out for 3 weeks.
Renewals
Items can be renewed in person, by phone or by accessing your account online. All DVDs and VHS video tapes can be renewed one time; books and most other materials may be renewed twice.
Requests
“Requests” can be placed on most material owned by MVLC libraries. Patrons can fill out a request form in the library or can reserve items through the catalog at carlisle.mvlc.org.

Fines
As of October 25, 2011, the Gleason Public Library does not charge overdue fines for most materials. The only items that will include a charge for late return will be equipment (i.e. e-readers) and museum passes.
E-readers and other equipment |
Overdue e-reader devices are $5.00 a day with a maximum of $25 before replacement charge. |
Museum passes |
Museum Passes must be returned by 10 a.m. the day following the day of use or a late charge of $5 will be due. There will be a replacement charge of $25 for any lost pass. |
Lost/damaged items |
Payment for lost or damaged items must be collected before the patron's borrowing privileges are restored. Payment may be made at any MVLC member library. |
Claims returned |
Items that a patron feels he/she has returned can be changed to a claims returned status. The patron is not charged for these items, but they do remain on the patron's record in this status. |
OTHER SERVICES
Library Elf provides customized tracking of your and your family's due dates and holds by email, RSS, or text message. Please note that Library Elf is a private service not affiliated with the Gleason Library or Merrimac Valley Library Consortium. Cardholders use Library Elf at their own option and risk. If you receive RSS feeds through a web-based aggregator such as Bloglines, Feedster, or Yahoo, your feeds may be viewable by the general public even if your account is marked "Private." Please read Library ELF's privacy policy and FAQ before signing up for the service.
