Often,
Library staff is asked about how someone in the community can be
more involved with the Library. The answers:
Visit the Library. The use
of the computers; checking out books, magazines, and videos; attending
programs; and inquiring for advice or assistance from reference
staff, are all ways through which anyone can add value to the Library.
Simply by using the resources that are available, asking questions,
and offering suggestions, the Library benefits the community.
The Trustees of the Gleason
Public Library and Friends of the Gleason Public Library (FOGPL)
work closely with the Library staff to achieve the Library’s
goals, including providing information services to the public.
The Trustees, a group of non-paid elected officials, are charged
with the responsibility of operating and maintaining the policies,
programs, and services of the Library, as well as the infrastructure
(building and grounds) through which these services are delivered.
This leadership body solicits and manages the charitable donations
that make up the Gleason Public Library Endowment.

The Friends, a volunteer support organization of Carlisle citizens,
raises and distributes funds to enhance library programming and
collections. Volunteers and funds provided by the Friends help implement
many popular events like Harry Potter Night and the Book Sales.
