CHILDREN'S BOOK GROUPS

We are happy to offer book clubs during the school year for children in grades 1-2 and 3-4, thanks in part to support from a private grant. Read more below, or call 978-369-4898 and ask for Children's. You can also email Marty (mseneta@mvlc.org) for information about book clubs for grades 1 and 2, and Jennifer (jpetroroy@mvlc.org) for grades 3 and 4.

GLEASON KIDS' BOOK CLUB (GRADES 1-2)

The Gleason Public Library is happy to announce the return of the Gleason Kids Book Club, a children's book club open to all first and second graders.

There are still openings in the Gleason Kids Book Club for first and second graders. There are two clubs: one for non-fiction and one for fiction. The non-fiction club meets on one Tuesday a month (next meeting March 6) and the fiction club meets on one Thursday a month (next meeting March 8).

The intention of the Gleason Kids Book Club is to bring a variety of books to children regardless of reading ability or level. If a child can read the assigned title on his own, he should be encouraged to do so. If a child is not quite ready or just prefers to be read to, parents and caregivers are encouraged to read with or to their children.

Each meeting consists of discussion about the book. This is followed by a craft, experiment or other activity just for fun!

To register for the club or to obtain more information, please contact Marty at mseneta@mvlc.org or at 978-369-4898.

CARLISLE BOOK CLUB: 3RD AND 4TH GRADE

The Gleason Public Library's 3rd and 4th grade book club will hold its third meeting on Thursday, February 16, from 4pm-4:45pm. We will be discussing "Sideways Stories from Wayside School" by Louis Sachar, and the book is available at the Circulation Desk. The Carlisle Book Club is open to all Carlisle third and fourth graders and is still accepting registrations. Registration may be done in person in the children's room or by phone at 978-369-4898. The club meets on a monthly basis.

If you have any questions about the book club or would like more information, please contact Nicole Basbanes at nbasbanes@mvlc.org or call 978-369-4898 and ask for the Children's Desk.

This program is funded through a private grant.
